Pro Cycling customer Jeff Jensen heads to Durango to start the US Pro Challenge ride. Here’s a note from him:
Cycling Buddies, Family and Friends,
As many of you know I have become obsessed with cycling and I’m embarking on an epic trip this coming week. I’m participating in the USA Pro Cycling Challenge here in Colorado that starts Monday. Although I’m only in my second year of cycling I have become quite committed to the sport. Early in the year I became aware of Carmichael’s Pro Challenge race experience. This Bucket List experience allows for 20 amateur riders to participate in the USA Pro Cycling Challenge with the top Pro teams and riders from around the world. When I was accepted several months ago I became part of the 20 man team that will ride the same course as the pros. Our team will be lead by Chris Carmichael and 4 of his coaches. We start each day a couple of hours ahead and must finish at least an hour before the race leaders.
Over the last 6 months I’ve logged over 6000 miles and dropped from over 200 lbs to 175, I feel like I’m ready. At 50 years of age I have to say I’m in the best shape of my life. The 7 day race starts Monday and I plan on sending out a quick recap each evening. It looks like the weather will be fun, cold, windy, rain and I’m sure some snow. Ugh..
